Happy Halloween from all of us!

Well, we managed to pull off family themed Halloween costumes again this year. But I’m guessing this will likely be the last since the kids are getting older and insisting on picking their own. The nerve, i tell you! :)

We decided to make our own this year to make them more personal. They were relatively simple however it involved a LOT of elbow grease.  Making 5 separate costumes took way too much time causing us to re-evaluate the whole concept.  It was definitely easier when it was just John and I versus the 5 we need to work on now.

We found a tutorial online http://www.craftster.org/blog/?p=94 and armed with freezer paper (yeah, you heard right), John, set to work on the stenciling. It actually worked real well. Who knew?!

For the convict costumes — it’s amazing what 3 rolls of masking tape and 7 cans of spray paint can do.

For the logo on the hats, my good friend, photoshop came in real handy. I found one i liked, tweaked it and printed them on sticker sheets.  Some have asked what VFPD stands for — it’s just V Family PD.

it’s all in the details.

Someone in our neighborhood told us yesterday that she thought we were making a statement with our costumes. Yep, that was the intention. :)

Hope your day was fun!
